The Top image is from Elliot Ward's latest collection. Ward is a promising, insanely young Australian clothing designer. Designs like this, from people as young as him, really put some fire under our butts.
Ward and Tavi Gevinson should get a room. Far away. So the rest of us can feel better about ourselves.

Nan Goldin + Jaime King

My, my. I'm not sure what's going on in the second pic but it looks like she's up to no good. Love the tattoos, lighting, and her posture.

You're so cool, you're hot

It's my goal to have a bedroom like this one day. Pelts and all.

More color blocking and feathers

Jonathan Saunders, Jason Wu, Michael Kors...they've all been up to a whole lotta color blocking over the past few runway seasons. The accessory of the winter season is a pair of black fingerless leather gloves. I love the ones above by Lauren Ustadt - they would pair beautifully with any color blocked outfit. Santa? Anyone? Fingerless leather gloves please? I threw in Emily Valentine's rad feather puppies for two reasons: 1. because they represent a perfect directional color palette for current color trends and 2. they are made out of FEATHERS, which I love more and more every day.

Feathers, Plates and Pleats

Love this BCBG Pre-Fall 2011- the color blocking on pleated fabric is both elegant and relaxed. The blocking is somehow less harsh and more approachable when placed on pleats rather than flat fabric- which is more commonly used this runway season. I can see the woman in the top image coming out of a cabin on a cruise, somewhat like the room above, for a night of dinner and dancing on deck. The sloppy bed with its over sized pillow, covered in beautiful worn blue hued sheets, looks like the perfect spot for a nap! I'd die to get my hands on those mirrors that look like boat windows- what a great way to make a plain space exponentially more interesting! The round shape of the plate of the top image and the feathers by its side seem to tie all the images together in terms of mood, shape and color palette. I'm very fond of feathers lately, particularly when placed in hats...but that's for another post!

Wash and Go

I love the tousled locks of all three images. I'm very much a wash-and-go sort of gal. I've been threatening to die my hair the "Balenciaga Blonde" from the second picture, but then again I also love the golden natural hues of the last. I need a good colorist! I'm also coveting the eye makeup from the third image....so beautiful.

Lost & Found

Sometimes we get lost, whilst wearing a really great suit. Then we die. Then we go to heaven.
*I took the second picture on my camera phone out of a bus window, going over the BQE bridge from Brooklyn into Long Island City. It's a graveyard. Magical, isn't it?

Chunky heels don't make me want to blow chunks any more

Chunky heels are back on trendsters' feet. Remember those '90s-ish shoes that, even one year ago, I wanted to vomit all over when I saw them in ancient lookbooks? While I hope that the extreme style of "Clueless"'s footwear don't quite make it back to life, I loath to admit that I kind of like them again too. You kow what I also like? Animal prints. So when I found the best of both worlds at a neighborhood thrift store, I gave myself a high five. Mooooo.
